Weekend Recap:

This weekend in CedarVille, we learned how we can be joyful! Even when things aren’t going our way we can be joyful. We should worship God every day in every way.

As a family, read the story of Paul and Silas in jail in Acts 16:22-34. Also take time to read a key verse from this weekend found in James 1:2-3:
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”

Family Discussion Questions:

Where were Paul and Silas? What did Paul and Silas do in prison? What happened while they were in prison? Did Paul and Silas escape? Do you think Paul and Silas were ever scared when they were in prison, why or why not? When Paul and Silas were in jail, did they complain?

Family Activity:

Paul and Silas were in a terrible situation, yet they were able to be joyful and thanked God for all He did for them! Often it can be hard to choose joy during tough situations when we just want to be mad or upset. But we can rely on God to help us when we choose joy. Talk as a family of things that bring you joy. List them or draw them on a piece of paper. When you are in a situation where you know you should choose joy, look at this list and remember what brings you joy!

Memory Verse:

In CedarVille, we have the opportunity to memorize a verse and earn a special treat. It makes all the difference when families work on memorizing the verse together! This week take time to practice Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭NLT. The verse is found below. Check out our Facebook page for motions that can help your family learn the memory verse together!

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” – Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭NLT
