Weekend Recap:

This weekend in CedarVille, we learned God is #1. No matter what we need to always keep God as #1 in our lives.

As a family read about Elijah (1 Kings 18:15-39). Also take time to read a key verse from this weekend in James:
“But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, ‘God opposes the proud but favors the humble.’” James 4:6

Family Discussion Questions:

Did the people trust Elijah? Did everyone worship God, or did they have other gods they followed? What did Elijah ask the prophets of Baal to do? What did Elijah have poured over his offering? Would something that had water all over it catch fire? What did God do to the offering Elijah prepared? When the offering was all burned up, what did the people do?

Family Activity:

This story from Elijah’s life shows us how God is better than anything else. Take a piece of paper and color a campfire on it. The fire will represent the fire that God sent down to the offering. Once you have colored the fire write “God is #1” on the paper. Put this somewhere for you to see often and remember that God should be first in your life and that he is the best. No one compares to God!

Memory Verse:

In CedarVille, we have the opportunity to memorize a verse and earn a special treat. It makes all the difference when families work on memorizing the verse together! This week take time to practice Philippians 4:4-5. The verse is found below. Check out our Facebook page for motions that can help your family learn the memory verse together!

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again — Rejoice!” – Philippians 4:4

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again — Rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.” – Philippians 4:4-5
