Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy.
There is nothing more important than asking Jesus to be our Forever Friend and to love him.
Scripture: Jesus and Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). Read this together as a family.
Questions: What was Zacchaeus’ job? What did Zacchaeus do to see Jesus? Why did Zacchaeus climb the tree? What did Jesus say to Zacchaeus while he was in the tree? Did other people like that Jesus was going to Zacchaeus’ house? Did Jesus love Zacchaeus?
Family Activity: Zacchaeus wanted to have Jesus as his Forever Friend, so he happily allowed Jesus into his house. Talk to your family about what you can do to show Jesus you want to be his friend.
Memory Verse: As a family, memorize this month’s Memory Verse (the motions used in CedarVille are printed in the parentheses):
(make muscles with your arms) Physical training is good, (sign “God” – open hand slides down the middle of face with pinky facing out) but training for godliness (put two thumbs up) is much better, (point down with pointer fingers) promising benefits in this life (start with pointer finger up and extend out like you’re pointing ahead) and in the life to come. -1 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)
*Have your child memorize this verse and recite it to the room teacher for a prize.
